The Trailer Compost Loo

Design and build a portable compost loo trailer.

Here the brief was to make a lightweight, easily towable compost loo.

There was a focus on pre-manufacturing components, with the aim to make a detailed prototype, that could be replicated.

The clear acrylic curved roof gives a real feeling of being outside -beautiful for watching the stars or soaking in the sun! At the same time, a classical rhetoric was maintained by the use of Red Cedar and a traditional shed shape with a porch and a good eaves.

It was important to keep the center of gravity low, so that it stays the right way up.

A separate urine toilet set diverts urine away from the compost chamber, preventing over filling and smell.

The attention to detail paid off, making a rather posh bog! -perfect for taking to the woods, an orchard or a meadow.
